3.5 How Can I Get a Ranking?

Get rated (See section 3.4 How Can I Get a Rating?.). And continue to play.

Rating is an estimate of the playing strength. For a couple of reasons it can be very inexact:

• The player has not done many games (See section 2.5.2 How Precise is my Rating?.).

• The player has not played in a tournament for a long while. There is no reasonable way to guess the strength of a player, who has not played a single tournament in the last year.

Ranking sorts the players by their playing strength. This makes only sense, if the rating is known with a reasonable precision.

In other words: To be ranked, a player must meet two conditions. He must have played more than 30 games and he must have played at least six games (one tournament) during the last year.
