3.2 Will the Ranking Change?
There are three levels of changes:
-
New tournament results: The rating data will change after each tournament. It should
not take longer than a couple of days after receiving reliable and correct data
(See section 4. Can the Tournament be rated?.) to update this site.
-
Ranking, Regulations: Many of the rules have been fixed now, just to start up the
system in time. This does not mean, that the rules are bad, but if someone has a better
proposal, there should be an open discussion (including all tournament players) about it. And
in the end, the formal rules should be fixed. The following list is just an incomplete basis
for discussion (Any response?):
-
To be ranked, a player now must have at least 30 games, six of them within the last twelve
months (See section 3.5 How Can I Get a Ranking?.). Dieter Krapp proposed that players with more than 100 games
totally should have 18 to 24 month time, before they are removed from ranking due to
inactivity. I feel that this should be considered.
-
To be rated, a tournament must
-
Rating: This rating has reached a level, which is well beyond the traditional
ELO-chess-rating, because it avoid some problems (inflation, initialization, ...),
which are inherent in traditional rating systems. There are still some interesting questions
to solve. But it takes a lot of knowledge (and some time) to proceed. The current
rating-system is robust and stable. Therefore there is no point making hectic changes, before
the knowledge increases significantly.
