2.2.4 Two Players of Equal Strength Compete Against Each Other.

Let A and B be two players of equal strength. The player with the greater form on the day wins the game:

equal

The sketch shows a view from top on the bell shaped curve (See section 2.2.3 Both Players have a Form on the Day..). The circle encircles the peak area of the bell containing 40 % of the tosses. It is divided into two hatched areas. In the red area the form on the day of A is greater than that of his opponent. Therefore A wins in the red area, if the tossing ends up in the red halve. Because of the symmetry A wins as often as B . In other words: The chance to win for B is exactly 50 %.
